Easter Breakfast with Senator Klein

Thank you to Senator Klein, who happens to be very close friends with an awesome magician and the Easter bunny, we were able to enjoy some of the most delicious chocolate croissants EVERRR and have a great time meeting new families while enjoying one of our favorite bloggers, East Bronx Macaroni Kid, Geanine Petraglia and her children!

He LOVED those croissants so much I had to make more when we came home!!! Thank You Villa Barone Manor!

At the movies: John Carter!

I (Rebecca) was fortunate to see a screening of this movie on Thursday; I went with Donavin as my date, so it was a special night for me! If you've ever attempted to spend some QT time with a teen, you know it can be a most difficult task! But we both loved this movie, and we thought it was great. The graphics in this film are AMAZING, which is one of the best ways to spark a conversation. At 17 and (cough cough) 35, we both thoroughly enjoyed the film with all the action and the general storyline itself. I even found myself jumping up a few times due to the action scenes. I did have to ask myself if I would take Dylan, 9 years old, because I wasn't sure if he'd be able to completely comprehend some of it, but in discussing it his older brother reassured me this is definitely a good movie for kids, so I found reassurance from a some what "still a kid" point of view. So there you have it, our combined point of view!
The bottom line... if you like Star Wars, Sherlock Holmes, and Titanic you're going to LOVE this movie!

M.o.B.

So now that you've seen how much fun we can have, what about how much good we can do? Sound interesting? M.O.B. is a group formed by 2 separate entities, Mommy's Mingle and East Bronx Macaroni Kid. We go to schools to speak with children, we host events at different sites, and we have a group on facebook. Our goal? To empower families about bullying. To teach our children how to identify a bully, how to handle a bully incident and how to not become a bully. We speak to our parents about being and staying involved in their children's lives, how to identify when their child is being bullied and who to speak with. Our first event took place at Ps 72. We were joined by Excel Martial Arts Leaders and owners, China and Joseph Rivera, and Gregory Robinson of Father Rules Inc.

But it didn't stop there...Today we hosted an event at Excel Martial Arts Buhre location...

Please don't think we're the only ones who do any teaching...We learn so much from the children we speak to. They teach us something new every time we do an event.
